SUMMARY:Homeschool Days at Wade House
DESCRIPTION:Calling all homeschool learners and non-traditional students! Learners of all ages will be invited to explore the horse-powered world of Wade House and Wisconsin in the mid-1800s. Upon arrival\, visitors can step inside a reproduction stagecoach and learn about plank road travel.  The horse-drawn world of the 19th-century is on display in the Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum – where learners will test their skills by building their very own model carriage. A horse-drawn wagon transports visitors across the Mullet River to the historic core of the site where authentically costumed interpreters\, muscle power and water-power bring to life the work of the blacksmith and sawyer.  Guests also tour the 27-room Stagecoach Hotel\, which once served weary travelers along the Plank Road.

Seeing owners giving little kids seat time in the race and sports cars is part of the fun. In short\, events like this\, having the young ones exposed to the cars\, and the sensations surrounding the event is critical to continuing the heritage of vintage racing.

SUMMARY:Go Figure: Wisconsin Artists Southeast Chapter Juried Exhibition
DESCRIPTION: OPENS FRI. MAR. 8TH\, 2024 5-7:30PM\n\n\nThe theme of this show is Go Figure! Is it figurative? Is it about perplexity\, confusion\, surprise\, or puzzlement? Is it figuratively speaking; or metaphorical? How does it all add up? “Go Figure” is jured by Mary Tilton and Jayne Reid Jackson. \nAbout the Judges: MARY TILTON is a watercolor artist with curiosity about the world and how things work. A “maker” at heart\, her curiosity has led her to study art in all its forms and practices. She limits her art practice to watercolor as a means of focus and has shown her work both locally and in national juried exhibitions. She continually pursues technical knowledge to support increasingly expressive artwork. After retirement from a creative technical management career\, Mary became free to explore the open network of art and artists. She has held a variety of positions in the Madison Watercolor Society\, the Arts Alliance. JAYNE REID JACKSON\, A Wisconsin native\, Jayne grew up in Milwaukee and Port Washington. She currently works out of her home studio in Madison and is known internationally for her mezzotint work. Her mezzotints are accepted into national and international print exhibitions\, both juried and invitational\, and included in public collections in the US and Internationally. She is a member of several print societies and exhibits regularly in their exhibitions. \nAbout the Wisconsin Visual Artists: The Wisconsin Visual Artists began in the year 1900 as the first professional association of artists in Wisconsin\, and has continued for 123 years as an educational\, supportive\, and connective force for artists within the state. WVA offers a community and a support system to artists at any stage in their career. Because the organization is run by artists for artists\, we are dedicated to the well-being and fair treatment of Wisconsin artists through the forging of creative partnerships\, exhibition opportunities\, monthly meetings\, publications\, programming\, arts advocacy\, and more. \nWVA hosts many exhibitions each year\, and partners with the Museum of Wisconsin Art to execute the Wisconsin Artist Biennial.

SUMMARY:Polar Bear Plunge
DESCRIPTION:It happens every year\, since 1973\, and even the bitter cold of winter can’t stop it. On January 1\, at 1pm\, people line up along the frigid waters of Lake Michigan with only one thing in their minds – to run in. It sounds crazy\, insane crazy\, but that doesn’t stop anyone from doing it. \nHappy New Year!!

SUMMARY:Sartori Big Cheese Drop
DESCRIPTION:The annual Sartori Big Cheese Drop is nationally lauded as one of the country’s quirkiest New Year’s Eve traditions. This year marks our 17th annual event as we celebrate Plymouth\, WI\, the official Cheese Capital of the World. Over the past 16 years\, the event has drawn thousands as the community comes together to welcome the new year. The highlight of the event is marked by a countdown and the lowering of a giant wedge of Sartori’s world award-winning BellaVitano® Gold Cheese at 10pm. The event is sponsored by the Sartori Company.\n\n\nThe festivities begin at 8:30pm in the PAC Greatroom with live music by the ever popular 50’s-60’s Tribute Band\, II Cool! There will be a cheese tasting table and a cash bar. Enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and warm up at the bonfire from 8:30 to 10pm. As this is a family-friendly event\, the Big Cheese Drop will be held at 10 PM. Bring your party noisemakers and cheese hats! Gift bags of Sartori Cheese will be distributed to the first 250 families in attendance. After the Big Cheese Drop\, music and dancing will continue through Midnight. A complimentary champagne toast will be served at midnight! \nExecutive Director Donna Hahn said\, “the Plymouth Arts Center initiated this popular New Year’s Eve event back in 2007 to pay tribute to Plymouth’s cheese heritage and its thriving industry that still exists today. We greatly appreciate the Sartori Company’s generous sponsorship of this event and our organization. We also thank the Plymouth Fire Department for their continued gracious assistance. Special thanks to Greg and Deborah Heberlein for their assistance. The Plymouth Arts Center sends its best wishes to all for very Healthy and Happy New Year! \nAbout Sartori: Sartori\, a fourth-generation family-owned company\, has proudly produced award-winning\, artisan cheese for customers worldwide since 1939. Rooted in Plymouth\, Wisconsin\, Sartori’s emphasis on a high-quality and handcrafted approach to cheesemaking is a timeless family tradition. \nAbout the Cheese Capital: The national respect for Plymouth was planted in the fact that the price of cheese in the USA was designated at the Wisconsin Cheese Exchange in downtown Plymouth\, beginning in 1918. The Cheese Exchange pricing and standards were the platform for cheese pricing until 1956. During these decades Plymouth became known as Cheeseville because of the cheese storage facilities\, the processing of cheese and shipping of product throughout the country. Today Plymouth is simply the Cheese Capital of the World with over 15% of the cheese consumed in the US going through the city. \nAbout the Plymouth Arts Center: Established in 1993 as a 501c3 non-profit arts organization\, the Plymouth Arts Center is Western Sheboygan County’s leading arts destination. Its celebrated Gallery 110 North showcases Wisconsin fine artists in changing exhibits. The Gift Shop features original art created by PAC members. The PAC offers an ongoing and vibrant schedule of live musical and theatrical performances\, art classes for all ages\, chartered bus trips\, and special annual events\, such as\, the Jazz & Blues Crawl Fundraiser\, Spring Art Tour\, Paint the Towns in Fall Color competition and gala\, and the nationally acclaimed\, “Sartori Big Cheese Drop!” The PAC also serves as an unique backdrop for private parties\, meetings and special events. Tour/School groups welcome. Gallery admission is always free. \nThe Plymouth Arts Center is located at 520 East Mill Street\, downtown\, (at the intersection of Eastern\, Mill & North.
