Union Cemetery Walk
May 20, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
The Plymouth Historical Society invites you to step back into Plymouth’s history and meet the important citizens that once lived and shaped Plymouth during the annual Union Cemetery Walk on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Plymouth High School drama students will once again return to Union Cemetery (accessed from Division Street, Forest Avenue and North Street) to portray individuals who rest in this cemetery. Visitors will be able to stroll the cemetery at their leisure while listening to the students, who will be dressed in period clothing, re-enact the lives of past residents. In this tranquil setting there are farmers, shop keepers, mayors, housewives, pastors, Civil War veterans, and so many more, with interesting stories to tell. This is open to the public, free of charge. Parking and tour begin at the VFW parking lot on Division Street, one block north of the Episcopal church. The event concludes with the playing of Taps. Light refreshments will be available. The cemetery was founded in 1852 and continues to be an active burial ground to this day. Many of the monuments, which are works of art, were created by monument companies in Plymouth. Make sure to bring your camera! 920-893-1876
